The city that never sleeps

Vor knapp 400 Jahren für nur 60 niederländische Gulden von der indigenen Bevölkerung erstanden, hat sich die Insel zwischen Hudson und East River zu einem der quirligsten Orte auf diesem Planeten gemausert; wahrlich zu einer Stadt, die niemals schläft. Und noch immer gilt der Satz aus Sinatras Song: „If I can make it there, I´ll make it anywhere…“

This island that lies between the Hudson and East River was purchased from the Lenape Indians nearly four hundred years ago and has been transformed into one of the liveliest and lit up spots on this planet. It truly is a city that never sleeps. And as the song goes, “If I can make it there, I´ll make it anywhere“ from the classy Frank Sinatra still holds true.
